Pokemon X and Y: What It Needs To Impress Me

Yuno Gasai

aWith the announcement of Pokemon X and Y, I would like to point out some things I want it to have to impress me to buy the game.  I really wish for it to “Wow!” me away with the 3D on the Nintendo 3DS System. Come and read the reasons after the jump.

First off, I have not played a Pokemon video game on any handheld since Diamond & Pearl. I liked where those two games were heading, but I totally ignored Black and White 1 and Black and White 2. They did not seem to interest me quite yet for a reason I personally cannot pin point. I am guessing it is loosely because of the fact it was the same old song and dance. Yes, it was new with some features in Black and White 1 and 2, but it didn’t hit me hard enough.

So without further ado; here are things X and Y need to impress me to get a 3DS and the game.

Story

Yes, the story is an impressive part of any Pokemon game. I want a proper story with proper conclusions. I do not wish to see the same old,”you’re a 10 year old girl(or guy) who gets to go on his/her Pokemon journey!”  I have read up on Black and White 1 and 2 enough to know there’s story in it, though. I honestly want a story that is even further beyond unique than an evil organisation trying to summon and catch a legendary and use it for their own evil deeds.

Length

I know the length can vary, but this goes in with the story. I really demand the length of the main game be longer. I want there to be a way to travel across the lands, battling other trainers of Gens 1-5 in these new amazing 3D models. If the length of the main game is longer, then it automatically will sell me as soon as possible. I’d love to have more trainers in the gyms, more trainers to battle, ANYTHING to make the main game a bit longer.

Graphics

3D graphics on the 3DS is one way to impress me thus far. I want Gamefreak to animate every single move in the game and make the battles, well, look like a battle. . A proper battle system that’s revamped in 3D to match the 3DS would also be pretty awesome. I also want most of the buildings to be 3D, and hope even the inside is 3D of the gyms/buildings/etc. So, basically I desire the 3D to impress me on the 3DS.

Replay Value

Damn you, Gamefreak! I want to replay the game and have everything randomly generated. It can be from trainers, gyms, to even routes. Heck, I’d love to be thrown in a loop and still see routes be a little bigger or smaller to trick the player up each time. I’m a fan of randomly generated content and shock value. If they ever do this then I think it could create a way to be willing to replay.

silverBetter Rival

I do want a better rival, or even one more similar to Silver from the G/S/C Generation. He was known as being a careless, ruthless bastard. Every time you had battled him, he started to question his own ways and change for the better toward his own Pokemon.  If this better rival will exist; I am hoping he/she will actually be a part of the main story somehow. Maybe he/she is your own brother/sister, maybe even your long lost father! I don’t care, as long as I have a reason to DISLIKE the rival and then grow attached to him/her later on in the game.

So far these are the things I’d LOVE to see be impressive in the Gen 6 games.  I am still buying the 3DS and the game even if I am highly let down or saddened by anything. I’ve not been this excited for a Pokemon game since Ruby and Sapphire.

    Wasn’t Hugh a good rival?

I felt the plot revolved around Hugh too much and I never really see any character that is a friend of the player as a rival. Plus I’m bored of all the protagonist rivals. We haven’t had a good antagonist rival since Silver
