Are Cute Pokemon Strong Too?

Hey Pokemon Dungeon! Patrick here. So we all know the anime, but what have we ever really learned from it?

Ash’s Pikachu is super strong. Team Rocket refers to it as a special Pikachu.
But can a cute Pokemon like Pikachu be strong in the games?

I have always liked the cute Pokemon. I have a tendency to choose girl characters in fighting games, and will
always use Peach in Mario Kart or Brawl. There seems to be nothing better than winning at a game and looking good while doing it. So what kind of Pokemon are both strong and cute? Well this question comes up a lot and I want to show you my twist on things.

• First of all there is Mew. Mew is a cute like cat Pokemon that is super rare, and can learn every TM. Certainly a string contender. Being a Psychic type it has many type advantages. And it is a very good all round Pokemon with base stats 100 for everything.
• I’m not sure if I could count Dragonite in this list, yes it is cute, but does it have that small cute feeling? You always know Dragonite is going to be a strong contender. All Dragons have strong Attack and Special Attack, so maybe Axew, the cute and cuddly Pokemon that Iris keeps walking around with her. Axew takes a while to Evolve anyway, so you can always have a level 35 Axew that is a strong fighter on any team with strong base stats.
• Larvitar. Is he cute? In the Anime, Ash had a Larvitar which wasn’t much to go by strength wise, but it was only a baby. In the game Larvitar is a Ground and Rock type, and has Guts. Guts has been used by many competitive players to instantly increase attack power by 50%, so Larvitar is great addition to any team.
• Emolga is one of my favorite from the Anime, and it is defiantly no push over if you want a cute team of Pokemon that are going to be difficult to take out. With ability static, you can forget making physical type attacks, but he also fairs pretty well against Special attacks too with a base special defense of 60, up to 240 for level 100. A quick Pokemon, Emolga can deal damage fast and cause paralysis to your opponents entire team. A definite winner in my books.
• Blissey is Super cute, not small, but small enough in my books to make the team of cute Pokemon. Blissey has the highest HP stat of all Pokemon. It’s Physical is terrible, but we can forget that with the high HP, and high Special. If your looking for a tank to soak up damage from that annoying Psychic Pokemon, Blissey is a good choice.
• Finally I think Whimsicott is probably the best addition in my opinion. Is it cute? Yes. It has one of
  the highest speeds, and is a strong Grass type with heavy numbers for base stats. This Pokemon is just a good all round partner to have. Mega Drain is a good STAB to have as it replenishes your health, which makes this Pokemon one of my best cute/strong combos.
