Pokemon.co.jp revealed not one, but two Upcoming tournaments for Pokemon Black and White players. “International Challenge” is the third Wi-Fi Tournament, as well as it’s First International Tournament. This means any player can join in and battle Japanese players, as previous tournaments have either had a scarcity of Japanese Players with English games or vice-versa. The second tournament, “Japan Cup 2012 Spring” is exclusive to Japanese players, is a tournament held to gather top ranking players who will be participate in the Pokemon World Championships 2012 in Hawaii.

The details of “International Challenge” is as follows:

  • Registration Period: Starting from March 15th 2012 00:00 JST to March 21st 2012 23:59 JST
  • Tournament Period: Starting from March 22nd 00:00 JST to March 26th 2012 23:59 JST
  • Results: April 4, 2012, 13:00 JST

The details of “Japan Cup 2012 Spring” will take place on PGL Battle Union as a battle Royal, and battling for the top players in Battle Union. The top most players will then duke it out, and the winner will then be the Japanese Representative who will participate in Pokemon World Championships 2012. Details of when will this occur are currently unknown. It’s rules are the same as last years Pokemon World Championships.

Like previous tournaments, The same set of rules must be strictly followed. Here is a refresher on them, as well as new rules for the tournament:

  • Only those who have successfully registered their Global Link account may be allowed to enter the tournament.
  • This a first come, first serve basis. Only the fastest players who registered may enter the tournament.
  • The Following Pokemon cannot be used in battle: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem. The rest can be used according to the player’s choice.
  • Only those who registered their accounts during the Registration Period may enter the said tournament.
  • You can only use Pokemon within your Battle Box. Once you register your Pokemon in the Battle Box, they cannot be exchanged for another Pokemon.
  • Please be informed that keep your DS charged at all times during the tournament. Turning off the DS during a battle, or while results are being sent/received is a strike towards being banned for all future tournaments.
  • Double Battles will be used, and the Species Clause, Item Clause will be implemented.

Personally, I look forward to fighting other players. I’ve mostly fought with Japanese Players, due to me possessing a Japanese Black and an English White. They have the guts and they love to charge at ya with all their Pokemon. They also love to use Explosion and Rage Powder/Follow Me combos. What do you think? Do you want to participate in this competition? Do you think you are better than the Japanese Players? Do you think you can’t beat them? Let us know in the comments!
