Pokémon Dungeon Mailbag Episode 1

David

We are pleased to inform you that we finally have our first episode of our Video Mailbag here at Pokemon Dungeon! Our newest staff member, Eric, has gone ahead and taken user-submitted questions and answered them the best that he could. This is our first mailbag episode, so we are currently looking at finalizing our formatting and even the name. If you have a suggestion for the name of our mailbag, leave it in the comments.

Send your questions to Mailbag@PokemonDungeon.net and we will pick some of the best questions to answer. The timestamps are below and there is a video embed inside. If you’d rather, you can watch over at YouTube.

Questions and Timestamps:

(1:19) – Do you believe Giovanni’s son has any other connections to team rocket?

(2:14) – Are you going to update Pokemon TCG news as well?

(2:35) – If you battled on Diamond/Pearl would you see Giratina’s origin form while holding the griseous orb from platinum version. Would Giratina’s ability be levitate or pressure?

(3:58) – What’s your thoughts on the new battle style and story for the new Pokemon game?

(5:27) – Have you seen or noticed in any other games that there tends to be at least one other Pokemon within each elite 4 that doesn’t follow the type they train?

(6:34) – Which type would you say is the worst and why?

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel where you’ll be informed about all of our newest videos and know about any updates that we make there. Remember, leave your comments about the questions, suggestions for the mailbag’s name, and any other comments that you’d like to give us. We look forward to your comments!

That was really not bad for a first time!! Great job Eric, and congrats to PD for finally having a mailbag!
As for the title, I say be creative. The Curiosity Shop from ZD is quite clever, and I personally can’t think of anything right now that wouldn’t sound cheezy… (The only things I can come up with are Wingull Asks, and Charizard’s Q&A… Which both sound corny)

  • NarutoZelda

A title…what about Ask Oak or something relating to the professors in the beginning of the games since they basically help you out. Or PokeDex. I’ll think it over the night and see if I can come up with something better.

    • SageofFire

Well, they’re both better than Wingull Asks and Charizard’s G&A…

The worst type is Normal, objectively speaking.

  • SageofFire

Now for my answers (I’ve started doing this on the ZD mailbag, so why not here)

    1. No I don’t. In (Heart) Gold/(Soul) Silver/Crystal, he clearly says that he doesn’t like Team Rocket, and is against them. Plus, I agree that if he had any connection to Team Rocket, he should’ve been in Red/Blue/Green/Yellow.

    2.

    3. Can’t answer this one (Have yet to play Gen IV)

    4. Black and White I’m assuming? I love it. The battle style is a massive improvement. I love how they now have full body back sprites that are also fully animated. How could you not love that? As for the story, I agree that it’s more like an actual story than the rest. I like it. Although V isn’t my favourite Generation, it’s still in my top 3.

    5. Ya. I can think of one Eric didn’t mention. Steven, the Hoenn Elite Four champion (R/S) has armaldo and Cradilly. Although he is a steel type trainer, neither of those two pokemon are steel types in any way.

    6. Hard to say. I have a favourite type (that’s electric) so that’s out of the question. My least favourite is Bug Type, but it’s certainly not the worst type, as it’s certainly useable. The worst type, I think, is Dark Type. We already have Ghost Type, and Dark is basically a newly enhanced Ghost. I guess they added the fighting type weakness, and excluded the resistance to normal, but other than that, Dark type is basically just a rip off of Ghost type. While I’m at it, I will say that I like the original 3 ghost types (gastly, haunter, and gengar) far better than the newer ones.

    • Geode

I disagree about the dark type. It’s kinda like saying that Steel is the worst type because its a metal and metals can all be made from things that are found in the ground.
Dark wasn’t even called dark in japan it was called Evil. Plus most Dark pokemon wouldn’t even fit in the Ghost Category or any other category for that matter.
I don’t think that Rock type pokemon should exist though, I think that Rock and Ground types are interchangeable and that Rock type is only there for an extra weakness for flying and electric pokemon.

What is with those spaces? I only hit the space bar once per word >.<

    Dem Zelda posters!

For the question about your rival in 2nd gen he does have a little with team rocket to do in the manga, were he is one of the children who the antigonist has raised to start the new team rocket, but he deserts with a girl (believe it was green). But he does hate Team Rocket and wants to stop them by himself. Btw. Team Rocket is present in all the mangas I have read. And by the mangas I am refering to Pokémon Adventures, which is what the games are based on.

And of course the name for the mailbag. I would go for something like Ask Oak/the Pokémon professor :)

    and ugh uhmmm =P

  • 3DS Guy

How about Poké Mart?1. No, throughout the game he hates Team Rocket and fights with you against them.
    3. See the normal forme, but Levitate is it’s ability
    4. The movements are great and each have a different color for health statuses. Plus the different music with being in critical really adds to it.
5.Flint in D/P w/ Lopunny, Drifblim, and another one. G/S (HG/SS) Lance with Charizard and Gyarados
    6. Personally, anything that has an immunity is good (flying, steel, ground). So I’d say Bug. Low stats overall, quick evolutions (delaying good moves), and many weaknesses.

  • awsomeMrlink

How about naming it  The Pokedex or Proffesor Oak’s Ramblings.

I think Dark should be a type. It would be really dickish in Emerald if they made Poochyena immune to Normal because in that first battle with Prof. Birch, the starter only has normal types!

HOENN was great and Elite Four stuck to their types (but had many repetitions [Phoebe and Glacia]  however in Ruby/Sapphire, Steven was the Champion.
Steven=Steel but has an Anorith and a Cradily and a Claydol (Nor rematched).

    SINNOH
